1. What is a splash pad and is there a charge to play in the splash pad?

A splash pad is a recreational area that typically will spray water upward from the ground, similar to a large fountain, with no standing water. This feature is aesthetically pleasing and as seen used in other communities will allow children to cool off in the hot summer days. There is no fee to use the splash pad.

2. Who designed the splash pad?

The 25,000 s.f. splash pad was designed by Schrickel, Rollins, and Associates, Inc. from Arlington, Texas and Aquatic Design Group, from Carlsbad, California. Aquatic Design Group has more than 2,500 projects and 30 years in the aquatic industry. They have been recognized at the State and National level for award winning aquatic projects. Their professionals include project managers, technicians and administrative staff that work with the customer throughout the entire process from designs through construction and completion of the facility. They have an impressive client list which include Disney, Six Flags, Marriott, North Richland Hills H2O Aquatic Park and many more.

3. How is the water kept clean?

The system has a chlorinator and a UV light sanitizer/clarifier to kill 99.99% of bacteria and viruses. The chlorinator and entire system is checked daily by Park Staff.

4. Is the splash pad supervised by lifeguard staff?

No, as with most splash pads located within park sites it is not supervises by lifeguard staff. This is typical with water features which have no standing water. Children 10 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older), and must be supervised by that adult at all times.

5. What are some of the features of the Highland Village splash pad?

The natural river themed splash pad provides three water zones for nonstop water play, which included a total of 66 water sprays and one waterfall. The river flow areas incorporate the water sprays and this area is covered with a PolySoft surfacing for safe enjoyment of the water features. Large sitting boulders are located throughout the splash pad site for use by those enjoying the splash pad area. Restrooms and picnic tables are available on site.

6. Are there rules and regulations that must be followed while using the splash pad?

Yes, the Texas Department of State Health Services requires that specific rules be followed while using public interactive water features and fountains. All rules are posted at the splash pad site and can also be found on the City’s web site for the Doubletree Ranch Park Splash Pad. 7. Can the splash pad be rented for a private event?

No, the splash pad is open and available to anyone who desires to use the water feature. However, within the concession/restroom facility, referred to as “The Barn” there are several areas which can be rented for private activities. The Party Room has heat and air conditioning and the breezeway has large fans to cool the area during summer months. Tables and chairs are provided at no additional charge for rentals.
