The City maintains an open line of communication with our county, state, and federal legislators. When the Texas State Legislature convenes, city staff develops a Legislative Program which is presented to City Council for their approval. Our legislative program focuses on the preservation of our authority to govern the city, its citizens and its property. The city manager or the mayor contacts our legislators as legislation is presented that impacts the City. The City is a member of the Texas Municipal League which does lobby on behalf of Texas cities. The annual dues paid to TML are $3,300. The City does not contract or hire any other lobbying consultant or firm.
