Protection of children going to and from school and keeping them safe are a high priority for the Highland Village Police Department. HVPD routinely patrols our school zones and conducts targeted enforcement on safety violations.
Motorists are reminded to be careful when driving through active school zones. In addition to watching for children walking or riding their bike, motorists need to be especially mindful of laws regarding:
- School zone speed limits and times
- Stopping for school buses loading and unloading children
- Crosswalk violations
- School Crossing Guard obedience
- Motorist cell phone use violations
- Child safety seats
- Parking violations in and around schools
