Our Story

In February 1996, the HVBA was established to allow the merchants and businesses to meet on a regular basis to discuss issues and needs unique to Highland Village.  The original purpose of the HVBA was to enhance public awareness of business opportunities within our City.
The first luncheon meeting was held March 26, 1996.  Time was provided for each attendee to introduce themselves and their business.  This continues to be well received as a part of each luncheon’s program and is a unique aspect of the HVBA.
Over the years various speakers have entertained, motivated and informed the HVBA attendees.  Today, businesses from Highland Village and the surrounding communities attend to support the growth of business, to learn of city news, transportation issues, and events in our area.
In today’s high-tech communications, the HVBA maintains a database of more than 500 addresses, including our governmental representatives, business leaders and owners in Highland Village, Flower Mound, Lewisville, Denton and surrounding areas.

Quarterly Lunches

In an effort to support the businesses of Highland Village and the surrounding community, the HVBA lunches are scheduled throughout the year on dates that do not conflict with Lewisville and Flower Mound Chamber events.
The January and April lunches are the time we plan on guest speakers.  The August lunch is the "All About You" event which allows area businesses the opportunity to display their products and promote their businesses.
November’s "Salute Our Veterans" lunch is our most special event. This is the only time we request sponsorship dollars to provide a free lunch to each veteran in attendance.  "Salute Our Veterans" began in 2004 and each year the luncheon has grown to be an important area event honoring Veterans from all age groups.  The luncheon has grown from 175 attendees in 2004 to 350 in 2007.  In 2007 a request for photos of veterans was announced.  Staff visited four area assisted living facilities to collect photos and scheduled times to scan photos of veterans.  As a result., a slide presentation with more than 140 photos from WWI soldiers to present soldiers was shown during the luncheon. Visit City Events for luncheon dates.

Breakfast With The Mayor

The first Friday morning of March, June and October has been designated for the HVBA "Breakfast with the Mayor."  Coffee and a continental breakfast is served from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to a small group of business owners.  Everyone is welcome to attend this event at the Highland Village Municipal Complex and discuss area issues with our Mayor in a relaxed atmosphere. Visit City Events for luncheon dates.
