City Works to Eradicate Mosquito Population in Public Areas

Mosquito Testing

Highland Village has maintained a proactive approach to combat the mosquito population. City crews trap and test mosquitoes in various locations throughout the city on a weekly basis. City crews add larvacide and oil to standing water in culverts, creeks, wooded areas and green belts. Fogging of the public greenbelt areas takes places five days a week. If the City receives a positive result from the mosquitoes tested, additional fogging will take place in the area of the positive result.

The City of Highland Village contracts with Municipal Mosquito for the identification, control and eradication of mosquitoes which carry West Nile Virus, Chickungunya and Zika arborvirus.
