Gardening from the Ground Up (improving soil and composting)

It is said that great gardeners grow soil. Unfortunately, the soil we start with in North Texas makes this goal challenging for many. Our heavy clay soil is hard to work and the veins of sand that sometimes run through the clay fail to hold moisture and nutrients. Gardening from the GroundUp includes analyzing what your soil needs, working with problem soils and what amendments can improve gardening success. Because adding organic material is one of the most effective ways to improve over-all soil health, we will discuss how and what to compost to create your own healthy soil.
